parapsychology is the study of psychic phenomena. The field has never had a comfortable relationship with other areas of science, partly due to hostility from the other sciences, and partly due to shoddy investigative work by many early parapsychologists. At its height, though, parapsychology was studied in some universities, Duke University (North Carolina) hosting J. B. Rhines's experiments with zener cards, and Aston University's ganzfeld experiments in the early 1980s.
